Umrah Preparation
First Umrah
Islamic Travel

For many Muslims, the dream of standing before the Kaʿbah, making ṭawāf and praying in the sacred lands is one that lives quietly in the heart for years.
Then, one day, the opportunity comes.
The excitement begins. The passport comes out. Family members are informed. Bags are prepared.
But alongside the excitement comes an important question:
“Am I really prepared for this journey?”
Umrah is not simply a trip to Saudi Arabia. It is an act of worship, and preparing properly can make a tremendous difference to your experience.
Here are seven things to keep in mind before you go.
The most important preparation isn’t what goes into your luggage.
It is what you carry in your heart.
Renew your intention and remind yourself why you are going. You are travelling to worship Allah, seek His forgiveness, increase in devotion and draw closer to Him.
The more sincere the intention, the more meaningful the journey becomes.
Don’t wait until you arrive in Makkah before learning how Umrah is performed.
Understand the essentials of iḥrām, ṭawāf, saʿy and shaving or trimming the hair.
Knowing what you are doing allows you to concentrate on your worship instead of constantly wondering what comes next.
Makkah and Madinah can be incredibly busy, particularly during popular seasons.
You may experience crowds, long walks, queues and changes to your expected routine.
Patience is therefore part of the preparation.
Go with the mindset that this is a journey of worship—not a holiday where everything must happen exactly according to plan.
There can be much more walking than you expect.
From your hotel to the Haram, around the Haram, during ṭawāf and between Ṣafā and Marwah, your body will be working.
Rest when necessary. Stay hydrated. Wear comfortable footwear where appropriate and avoid exhausting yourself unnecessarily.
Remember: you don’t have to do everything at once.
Your phone can be useful.
It can help with communication, navigation, Qur’an, adhkār and important travel information.
But don’t allow it to become the centre of your experience.
You travelled thousands of kilometres to stand in the sacred lands. Give yourself moments where the phone goes away and the heart simply worships.
A smooth Umrah isn’t only about getting a flight and hotel.
Good organisation matters.
Clear communication, suitable accommodation, transportation, guidance and someone who understands the needs of pilgrims can make the experience considerably easier.
This is why choosing the right travel partner matters.
At Travel with Aboo Ubaidah, our goal is not merely to take you to Saudi Arabia. We want to help make the journey organised, comfortable and centred around your worship.
This is one of the simplest things you can do—and one of the most valuable.
Before you travel, sit down and write the names, hopes, worries and requests you want to present to Allah.
Make duʿā for yourself.
For your parents.
For your family.
For those you love.
For the Ummah.
And for matters that nobody else knows about.
Because sometimes, the most precious moments of Umrah are not the ones captured by a camera.
They are the moments when you stand before Allah with a heart full of things you have been waiting to say.
Your Umrah Should Be More Than a Trip
When the journey eventually ends and you return home, the real question isn't simply:“Did I visit Makkah and Madinah?”
It is:
“Did this journey bring me closer to Allah?”
That is what makes the journey truly worthwhile.
If Umrah has been sitting on your heart for a while, perhaps this is the time to stop saying “one day” and start making concrete plans.
Travel with purpose. Worship with peace. Make memories that matter.
At Aboo Ubaidah Travels & Tours, we are here to help you take that next step — with carefully arranged packages, guidance and support from preparation to your return home.
“Perhaps the journey your heart has been waiting for is closer than you think.” 🤎
